Breakfast Show Slot for Cameron

A co-host on the football phone-in programme on Real Radio Scotland is to take up co-hosting the station's breakfast show.

Ewen Cameron becomes the breakfast co-host show host, with Cat Harvey, from the fifth of next month, replacing Mickey Gavin who was a stand-in for Robin Galloway who parted company with the station last month after one his practical jokes appeared to backfire.

Cameron has been with the radio station since its launch over eight years ago and he co-hosts the football phone-in with former Scotland goalkeeper, Alan Rough.

Rough will remain in post while the station seeks a a new partner.

In a statement issued by the company, Real Radio managing director, Gavin Bruce, is quoted, saying: “Ewen’s enthusiasm, experience and understanding of the Real Radio audience, makes him the perfect choice for the show. Ewen epitomises the fun, family ethos of Real Radio and we look forward to hearing Ewen and Cat on-air in the New Year.”

When Cameron starts his new job, Gavin will return to his own evening show on the station.

Galloway is reported to have been sacked by the station after his producer attempted a streak behind Labour leader, Ed Milliband, during a video interview intended for the internet.
