Staff at the Herald group of newspapers – The Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times – have been asked to take five day’s unpaid leave – on a voluntary basis.
Sources say – as they do to MediaGuardian (here) – the leave be taken between next month and October, subject to management approval, and can be broken down to 2.5 hours a week.
Allmediascotland.com also believes that the move, while voluntary for rank and file staff, is mandatory for senior management.
The Herald’s publishers, Newsquest, publishes 17 daily newspapers and about 200 weekly papers across the UK.
