Satirical magazine, Private Eye, taunts the Daily Mirror newspaper for criticising Bournemouth Council for hiring a transport boss who commutes to work from Scotland.
Says the current edition of the magazine: “Oddly enough, three of the Mirror’s own executives make a similar journey each week”, citing Mark Hollinshead, Mark Mountford and Lesley Somerville’s regular trips from Glasgow to London.
And it goes on: “Meanwhile, [Mirror sister title] the Daily Record’s head of news, Andy Lines, makes the reverse commute each week, travelling from his home in Hertfordshire to his desk in Glasgow. As evidenced by his recent Facebook posting: ‘There can surely be nothing more bizarre than landing on an Easyjet flight at Stanstead and taxiing past Air Force One!!!’”
