The broadcaster, STV, has created a new position of 'director of digital products' and filled it with a former chief executive with a background in mobile technology.
As part of its increasingly digital profile – including a range of hyper-local news websites – STV has taken on Michael McTernan as director of digital products, describing him, in a statement, as having “extensive experience of the development and implementation of platforms to deliver digital content, particularly within the mobile sector”.
Adds the statement: “Latterly, he held the position of CEO with Rapid Mobile which was subsequently acquired by Rank Interactive in 2011 where he was director of mobile strategy.”
He will report to Alistair Brown, STV's chief technology and platforms officer.
The statement continues: “In his new position, Michael will play a key role in the continued development of STV's digital and future television strategy, as well as the delivery of STV content and services to audiences and consumers across all platforms.”
