An employee of leading Aberdeen-based oil and gas engineering services company Cammach Group has scooped a major national award.
Third year apprentice Robert Hughes was recently named as the winner of the Scottish Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (RAC) Apprentice of the Year 2009 at the HVACR industry awards for outstanding achievement in Glasgow.
He was also named as the winner of a silver award in the UK-wide RAC National Student of the Year competition in Birmingham recently.
Robert is a student of Tullos Training Centre, a leading provider for apprentice training programmes for nationally agreed standards in a range of occupations in the refrigeration, heating and ventilation industries.
The accolade round off a successful year for Zimbabwe-born Robert who won the Tullos Training Centre’s best refrigeration apprentice in June this year.
Commenting on Robert’s win, Cammach Group managing director Bill Barclay added: “We are very proud of Robert’s continuing achievements and we are sure that he has a long and successful career ahead of him.
“Refrigeration and air-conditioning is a major area of growth at Cammach Group so it is crucial to have people of Robert’s high calibre on our team to ensure the best possible service to our clients.”
Tullos Training chief executive Iain Garrett added: “As Robert’s Modern Apprenticeship training provider we are very pleased with his achievements this year.
“His achievements confirm his excellent knowledge and understanding of RAC systems and the sectors need to maintain high standards at a time of change and new legislation. In this regard Robert is right up to date with the latest British and European requirements having recently obtained his City & Guilds Level 2 award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations at our RAC Training & Assessment Centre.
“Needless to say his tutors in the RAC department at Tullos are delighted. Our congratulations to Robert and the Cammach Group.”
