Fresh Ground for Expanding iCafe

iCafe played host to Scotland's Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, for the launch of its new flagship store on Woodlands Road in the west end of Glasgow.

Ms Sturgeon officially opened the new store on Friday, 8th January 2009 at 7pm and the night hosted some local celebs as well as some of the top business people of Glasgow.

Headed by young Entrepreneur Umer Ashraf, who opened his first iCafe in 2005 aged 21 – this latest site sees the company expand its activities in one of the city’s most bustling student areas.

The store is iCafe's largest to date and signals an ambition to meet the level of demand that has been reflected in other branches.

Umer added: “We have taken everything we have learnt in the past three and a half years since the birth of iCafe and incorporated it into this new store. This 2000sq feet store not only provides spacious seating but also brings together all the elements that make iCafe what it is today.”

“Our new Woodlands Road store provides an excellent platform for us to take iCafe on to the next level and increase brand awareness in what is a very competitive market. This is a key development for us which we see as a stepping stone to opening other stores in Glasgow area and its suburbs.”

Ms Sturgeon said: “I am delighted to open this new store and am very pleased to see a very successful young man develop this brand from nothing to what it is today. We need more people like Umer to demonstrate what can be done when you have a vision and dedication to do something different.”

According to Umer, success for the new outlet will hinge on the overall customer experience and quality of the product and service.

“Our focus is on creating an environment that consistently meets customer expectations, but is friendly and welcoming enough to make it a home from home. All of previous stores have been winners of best taste and customer experience awards and we will be seeking to achieve the same level of service in this store, whether it be in ensuring that the best IT is available, or serving coffee and food that make people come back day after day”.

The new Woodlands Road store is open from 8.30am to 11pm, 7 days a week. The details are:
