Leading provider of care in Scotland, The Balhousie Care Group, has appointed Lisa McLeod as its Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator.
In the newly created post, Lisa will be responsible for coordinating the sales and marketing of every Balhousie Care Home – both existing and new-build future properties.
She will work closely with the company’s retained marketing and PR agencies to maximise brand awareness and help drive occupancy levels.
Lisa’s appointment supports the group’s plans for continued growth, which will see the number of registered beds double to 1,500 places by the next three years – including innovative new homes in Dundee and Coupar Angus that are due to open at the end of this year and will incorporate many environmentally friendly and sustainable features.
The 29-year-old joins the care group from the Hilton Dundee hotel, where she has been Group Conference and Events Sales Manager for the last three years.
In addition to her sales and marketing expertise, Lisa brings a strong background in hospitality to the Balhousie Care Group, having gained a bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Hospitality Management from the Scottish Hotel School at the University of Strathclyde.
This was followed by an 18-month management training programme in Palm Beach, Florida.
She said: “I feel that I can bring a strong sales and marketing presence to the company from a hospitality background, which is all about the customer's experience and how that experience makes them feel.
“Hotels and residential care homes have the same principles – they are both providing a service and focus on ensuring that the guest's experience is well managed, well executed but with a sincere warmth and professional level of service. It is all about caring for what you are doing.
“I feel that I can bring that 'caring' and 'hospitable' level of service to complement what Balhousie Care Group has already achieved.”
With turnover expected to increase to around £23million in 2010, the group’s stated aim is to become the most admired and respected provider of residential care in Scotland.
The company prides itself on providing a personalised service and comfortable accommodation to each of its 600 residents, who are cared for in 20 homes across the country.
Lisa said she was looking forward to many elements of her new role.
“As this is a new post, the role will have many challenges and opportunities – no two days will ever be the same! I am looking forward to being part of a company that is moving forward and growing within the market and being a key player in helping them achieve this.”
Commenting on Lisa’s appointment, Balhousie Chief Operating Officer, Marco Truffelli, added: “We are delighted to welcome Lisa to the team and we believe her wealth of experience in sales and marketing will be an asset to the company and to our clients.
“She will be working in a caring environment and we are more than confident that she will drive the sales and marketing of the Balhousie Care Group very successfully.”
Lisa is married with three children. She was born in Dundee and brought up in Wormit. She spent five years in America and two years in Manchester before settling in Kirriemuir, which is also home to Balhousie Care Group’s original care home, Balhousie Lisden.
