Revellers will raise a glass to legendary Scots king Macbeth during a three-day extravaganza on Deeside later this month.
For the second year running, Deeside Activity Park at Dess near Aboyne will be the setting for Macbethfest featuring a running event, beer festival and ceilidh.
To work up a thirst, teams of four are invited to sign up for the running competition in conjunction with Running the Highlands on Wednesday, May 12th.
Runners are invited to put their best foot forward at Deeside Activity Park from 6.30pm and further information is available from Neil Stewart on (08451) 577422.
On Friday, May 14th six beers from the renowned Deeside Brewery will take centre stage alongside eight guest beers from around Scotland for the Macbethfest beer festival.
The event will run from 3pm until 11pm giving beer lovers the chance to sample and buy some of Scotland’s top drops.
For those wishing to indulge, free overnight camping will be available onsite and a return bus will run from Aberdeen to Deeside Activity Park. The bus will leave Aberdeen Art Gallery at 6.30pm and travel to Deeside Activity Park via Peterculter, Drumoak, Banchory, Torphins and Lumphanan, and return to Aberdeen by the same route at the end of the event at 11pm.
On the evening of Saturday, May 15th from 8pm until midnight, a ceilidh will take place featuring local band and T in the Park regulars “Hogtie” whose line-up features a dance caller to ensure everyone can join in and try all the dances.
Tickets are priced at £12 in advance or £14 at the door and may be booked by calling Deeside Activity Park on (013398) 83536.
Throughout the Friday and Saturday events, a spit roast will be serving up mouth-watering beef from the well known Cairnton Aberdeen Angus cattle herd run by Deeside Activity Park proprietor, Ken Howie.
Commenting on plans for Macbethfest 2010, Ken Howie said: “Last year we sold 3,200 pints of beer so we are anticipating a busy time and we look forward to welcoming visitors for what promises to be a special and fun series of events.”
