RMSpumptools Reflects on Successful Year

An Aberdeen company is reflecting on a successful last 12 months in business following a merger last year.

Artificial lift ESP applications’ specialists RMSpumptools Ltd – which was created following the merger of Pumptools (downhole products) and RMS (electrical penetrators) in May of last year – has now responded to an increased demand for its fully integrated services by expanding operations in both Dyce and Malton, Yorkshire.

The ongoing expansion of the company includes the development of a new subsea division, resulting in a number of new appointments.  In addition, the company has also expanded its Yorkshire-based facility, creating an extra 4,000 sq ft of office space, which will in turn release the space for development of the specialist manufacturing facility.

The recent investment will enable RMSpumptools to provide clients with a wider range of options for deepwater applications and increased pressure and temperature requirements.

As a direct result of the continued diversification of RMSpumptools’ product offering, a number of key appointments have seen staff numbers increase from 70 to 83 during the previous 12 months – 28 of which are based in the North-east.

Among the recent appointments is Doug Harwell, who has joined the company as vice president of Western Hemisphere Operations, bringing with him 11 years industry experience.  Asia Pacific Manager Eddie Moore has been promoted to vice president of Eastern Hemisphere Operations which adds responsibility for Middle East operations.

The firm has also marked its commitment to quality and service by achieving full ISO 9001 quality management certification throughout its combined operations at Dyce, Montrose and Malton, in Yorkshire.

Stan Foster-Rooke, RMSpumptools’ managing director believes the company’s growth has come at an important time.

He said: “During the past 18 months, industry in general has experienced a great deal of uncertainty and hesitancy in terms of growth and investment. However, we firmly believed that this was the ideal time to streamline our fully integrated service to strengthen our competitive offering.

“As a result, our combined business has grown by 12% during what has undoubtedly been a challenging year for the industry. During this time we have worked to ensure that, as a company, we are as prepared as possible for the future – primarily through the integration of our services, investment in new company infrastructure and the appointment of skilled individuals.

“The appointments we have made during this time adds specific industry expertise to our established team and underpin our commitment to ensuring we are in the best possible position to fully develop the global reach of the company going forward.”

RMSpumptools was created as a result of a merger between Aberdeen-based Pumptools and Yorkshire company RMS Limited in May 2009.

Specialising in artificial lift electrical submersible pump applications, the company currently has representative offices throughout the world including Thailand, Oman, Ecuador, Colombia, USA and Australia.
