An offer has been received for a planned retail unit in Inverurie before the first brick has been laid.
Four units, totalling just under 6000 sq ft, will be built by developers Tor Ecosse on the site of the former Bugles diner in West High Street/Burn Lane.
Initial interest in the project underlines the buoyancy of Inverurie’s retail sector, claim commercial property experts FG Burnett.
One unit, comprising a ground and first floor totalling 1277 sq ft, is already under offer, while another unit has consent for restaurant use.
The project also includes an affordable housing provision with 10 two bedroom flats and a one bedroom flat, located above the retail units.
FG Burnett director, Richard Noble, said: “The new shops are located in central Inverurie where demand remains strong. There is an impressive level of customer loyalty in the town and that is reflected in the fact that whenever a retail opportunity comes up, it tends to be snapped up pretty quickly.
“With quality operators located nearby, including Marks & Spencer and New Look, Inverurie has a vibrant retail offering and we expect a great deal of interest in these units as building progresses.”
Tor Ecosse managing director, Eddie Innes, added: “A mix of retail and affordable housing will add to the vitality of Inverurie and we expect building to start before summer and to be completed within a year.
“One unit is under offer before building starts and there have been a number of inquiries about the other three units. We are delighted to be involved in this development which will strengthen Inverurie as an attractive shopping destination.”
