Robertson Construction Group has strengthened its senior management team, to drive forward its growth plans, by announcing a new Chief Executive for the group and a new Managing Director for its Central business.
The role of Chief Executive, new within the structure of Robertson Construction Group, has been filled by John Ballantyne.
John, 48, joins Robertson from Laing O’Rourke where he held the role of Commercial Director for Scotland, immediately prior to that he worked for seven years with Bovis Lend Lease in the United States.
During his time at Laing O’Rourke John was responsible for the PFI schools programme for Edinburgh and Perth and Kinross, along with the first and major phase of the Forth Valley Acute Hospital. Before moving to work in the United States he was Commercial Director for Bovis Lend Lease in Scotland and during his tenure he delivered many significant and high profile projects including the Buchanan Galleries, Braehead and Ocean Terminal Shopping Centres, the Museum of Scotland and the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Robertson Executive Chairman, Bill Robertson said: “I’m delighted that John has joined us at Robertson Construction Group to help us move forward in our next growth cycle.”
“John’s role will involve leading, developing and growing our entire construction group business, which incorporates six construction companies.”
“Each of our construction companies has recently won a good selection of work; which has been achieved in a challenging climate. The construction sector faces numerous challenges including the imminent public sector budget cuts and dwindling margins on the majority of jobs.”
“That said John joins Robertson at an interesting period and his knowledge and experience will be of great benefit at these exacting times.”
John Ballantyne, Chief Executive, Robertson Construction Group said: “I am delighted to be taking up this new position within the Robertson business.”
“Robertson has a long and proven track record of delivering flagship construction projects right across Scotland and the North East of England; this is underlined by the calibre of work we are currently winning.”
“It will be exciting to lead this group of businesses into their next period of growth.”
Robbie Clark, 49, joins Robertson Central as Managing Director. The Stirling based contractor is one of six regionalised construction companies that make up the Robertson Construction Group.
Robbie joins the business from Barr where he held the position as Unit Director.
Commenting on Robbie Clark’s new role Bill Robertson added: “As the new Managing Director for our Central business Robbie has the opportunity to make his mark on the construction sector in the Central Belt.”
“Like all of our construction businesses Robertson Central works to a predetermined business model identifying workload and margin. Now for the first time, because of Robbie’s experience and leadership, this business has the potential to flourish and become a key player in the local area.”
Robbie Clark, Managing Director, Robertson Central added: “Robertson Central has the potential to grow significantly in central and western Scotland. We will focus on building relationships with clients and professional organisations in order to grow our order book and the business. This in turn will demonstrate the depth of knowledge we possess as a construction partner.”
Bill Robertson concluded: “Both men bring a great deal of experience and fresh ideas with them and I am looking forward to working with them both.”
“I wish John and Robbie all the best in their new jobs.”
