Inverness based radio station MFR’s popular presenter ‘Knoxy’ has won a prestigious national radio award. The awards recognise excellence and talent in the UK Commercial Radio Industry.
The daytime show host has been crowned ‘Presenter of the year’ in the 2010 Arqiva radio awards. ‘Knoxy’ from Inverness won the award ahead of presenters from Wales and the Midlands.
MFR (www.mfr.co.uk) which is owned by Bauer Media covers the largest geographical area in mainland UK and includes the Highlands, Moray and parts of Aberdeenshire.
The radio station reaches out to over half the population in the area and was named ‘UK local radio station of the year’ at the Sony awards this year. MFR currently commands the highest listening figures in mainland UK.
‘Knoxy’ was presented with her ‘Presenter of the year award’ at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London in front of a star studded audience.
MFR’s Knoxy said ‘Wow, I am in shock. As local girl who has grown up with the radio station, I just love being part of MFR and to win this National radio award is just fantastic. I have many loyal listeners and they definitely have a big part to play in my success, so I’d like to thank them’
