SCC, the UK’s largest independent technology specialist, which has thriving regional sales offices in Livingston and Glasgow, has donated 100 USB memory sticks to Danestone Primary School, Aberdeen.
The charitable gift came about following a recommendation from SCC’s long standing customer, University of Aberdeen. Danestone was one of the first primary schools to join ‘Glow’, Scotland’s pioneering national intranet for education, and the donation will support its expanding technology provision for pupils.
SCC’s Chief Technology Officer, Rhys Sharp, and its Regional Manager in Scotland, Trond Henriksen, presented the donation in a special event on Thursday 24 June at Danestone Primary School, where pupils showcased how they will use the memory sticks to support classroom projects.
Headteacher of Danestone Primary, George Roberts, said: “In today’s modern world, technology is a vital education tool and learning resource which we have fully embraced at Danestone. Our pupils are increasingly using technology in the classroom and at home which means their work must be easily accessible, storable and transferable. The donation of 100 USB memory sticks by SCC is hugely appreciated and will benefit all our pupils, particularly those in the senior years. On behalf of the school, I would like to express our thanks for this generous donation.”
SCC’s CTO, Rhys Sharp, added: “This was a great opportunity to support a local school and the regional community of Aberdeen and we were more than happy to help. At SCC, we work hard to help businesses and public sector organisations use technology to create efficiencies, remain competitive and improve performance. No less at Danestone, this donation will go some way in helping pupils utilise technology to enhance their education.”
