Shisha pipe craze set to sweep through Scotland this Summer

SHISHA pipes are an authentic method of relaxation and friendship shared by many people in India, Pakistan and the Middle East. But now the sunshine has led a restaurateur to predict that a shisha pipe craze is set to sweep throughout Scotland’s culinary scene this summer.

Imtiaz Hussain, manager at Amani, an exotic new lounge restaurant in the heart of Leith, reports that customers are flocking to the restaurant’s alfresco dining area to sample a shisha pipe and a glass of wine whilst basking in the summer sunshine.

Mr Hussain said: “Judging by the number of customers descending on our forecourt to chill out with a shisha and a glass of wine or beer to chill out after being cooped up in a hot office all day, I’m convinced that a shisha pipe craze is ready to sweep throughout Scotland.

“This looks set to be the hottest summer for years and a fruit-flavoured shisha is the ideal way to soak up the summer sun with a refreshing beverage after a hard day’s slog at the office.

“It’s said that the art of smoking the shisha pipe, or hookah, teaches you patience and understanding – and that’s just what many workers need when workplace tensions are exacerbated by the stifling heat!”

Amani, which translates as ‘inspiration’, offers diners an exotic fusion of Moroccan, Mediterranean and classic Punjabi cuisine within a seductive and elegant environment designed by Silvia Sanjurjo.

Its fruity flavoured shisha pipe range offers everything from mint, apple, white grape, red grape, strawberry, mango, blackcurrant, guava and chocolate.

And until the end of July Amani is offering a shisha and two bottles of beer or two glasses of wine for £10 or a shisha with two bottles of beer or two glasses of wine and a pakora platter for £15.

Amani is conveniently located in Bernard Street in the heart of Leith close to Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and the Malmaison Hotel. Log onto www.amanirestaurant.com for more information.
