Musselburgh Racecourse has bagged a unique music act to star at its next Rock ‘n’ Racing evening on Thursday. (July 29)
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing with their brand of ‘bagrock’ which fuses rock anthems with traditional Scottish bagpipes and drums.
Since playing at T in the Park with The Darkness and winning the BBC1 television talent show, When Will I Be Famous, the Chilli Pipers have been in demand across the globe.
The eight piece band will provide the rock element of Musselburgh’s next Rock ‘n’ Racing Office Party event, playing on stage following the conclusion of the six race meeting.
Racecourse commercial manager, Sarah Montgomery, hopes the tartan rockers will boost the attendance, drawing in office workers and professionals looking for a summer evening’s entertainment.
She said: “I’ve got no doubt the Chilli Pipers will have the racecourse rocking, raising the temperature with their very distinctive style of music.
“This is part of our programme of hosting a range of talented musicians in addition to our core diet of flat racing over the summer months. The entertainment is included in the admission price and this kind of event puts the racecourse on the map as a value for money sport and leisure destination.”
Feature race on the night is the £8000 Blackrock Handicap for three year olds over five furlongs at 7.25pm.
Gates open at 4.45pm on Thursday, first race is at 6.20pm and the last race is 9pm after which the Chilli Pipers take to the stage.
