Hamilton Park Racecourse is putting the final touches in place ahead of its most stylish fixture of the season, Ladies Night, this Saturday (31 July).
A firm favourite among the West of Scotland’s most fashion-conscious females, Ladies Night is one of the racecourse’s Super Seven fixtures and boasts six top-class races in addition to a dazzling array of glamorous gowns, show-stopping hats and glittering accessories.
The main feature of the evening, the ever popular best-dressed catwalk competition, will this year include Radio Clyde favourite Suzie Maguire and No.1 Magazine’s fashion editor Cara Kennedy on the judging panel. Also joining Suzie and Cara as a judge on the night will be 24-year-old Glasgow Hawks rugby star and male model Craig McGinlay.
Categories being judged this year are Best Dressed Lady, Best Hat or Fascinator and Best Accessories with a top prize of £2000 worth of diamond jewellery. Additional prizes on the night will include a £50 Ticketmaster gift card, a silver pendant, a pair of tickets to Clubland Live at SECC in October, a pair of ticket to next year’s Grand National at Aintree, use of a BMW Z4 for a weekend and a 2-hour trip for 2 in a prestige Bentley with champagne. The finalists will each receive a year’s subscription to No.1 Magazine.
As an additional treat for the ladies, the champagne bar (located on the paddock lawn) will be staffed with topless barmen for one night only.
Chief executive of Hamilton Park Racecourse, Vivien Kyles, said: “Ladies Night is one of our most popular fixtures of the year, and with good reason. In addition to an evening of high quality racing, punters can enjoy the glitz and glam that is synonymous with a day at the races. Last year’s event was great fun and all the ladies – and a lot of the men – really took the fashion-focussed theme on board with some fantastic outfits on show.
“I am personally really looking forward to seeing what this year’s contestants come up with and with the addition of two new categories, Best Hat or Fascinator and Best Accessories, I think we can expect to see some show-stopping looks.
“At Hamilton Park we are committed to offering a fantastic night out which caters to every taste and the glitz and glamour of Ladies Night, combined with the top-class racing of a Super Seven fixture, epitomises that goal.”
Many of the racecourse’s on-site bookmakers have also recently signed up to the Racing for Change bookmakers customer charter, designed to promote a more customer friendly betting ring and help teach inexperienced spectators about racing and betting prior to a race.
Vivien continued: “It’s really important for us that Hamilton Park is seen as a place for everyone – from the first time race goer to the experienced punter. The new Racing for Change bookmakers customer charter is an excellent way of helping novice spectators understand more about horse racing and getting even more enjoyment from their day at the racecourse.”
Ladies Night is one of Hamilton Park’s Super Seven fixtures, combining high fashion, retail, a catwalk competition and live music with top-class horse racing. Gates will open at 4.40pm with the first race at 6.40pm and the catwalk competition due to start at 7pm.
Every person entering the catwalk competition will receive a voucher for Julie Lamont Photography studios. Registration forms can be downloaded now from Hamilton Park Racecourse’s website and will also be available at the venue on Saturday night.
