Cookie, the award-winning eatery in Glasgow’s southside, is running a ‘Kiss Me Cake’ open day on Sunday, 19 September to help a new entrepreneur launch his sassy, sexy cheesecake line by offering customers love-bite samples of his produce freshly baked in Cookie’s ovens.

Canadian multimedia production journalist Chris Pech has nurtured an ambition to commercialise his love for baking cheesecakes for some time but it had always seemed unpractical – until he made contact with Cookie. Now the enterprising eatery has lent him the use of its ovens and kitchen out of hours to batch his production.

And now Cookie has announced an open doors policy to play host to aspiring catering entrepreneurs to help them get their business ideas off the drawing board and into the kitchen.

Cookie co-owner, Domenico Del Priore, said, “Starting a catering enterprise can be an expensive business. The outlay for much of the equipment and rental of premises can be too costly for many start-ups, particularly when bank loans are so hard to come by at present, so we are offering our kitchen as an incubator unit for bakers to develop their businesses.

“And this means that our newest friend and aspiring cheesecake entrepreneur has access to a kitchen and bakery with all the equipment he needs and all the health and safety aspects required for food production already covered. In return, Cookie gets delicious fresh cheesecake which is already proving popular with our customers!”

Cookie’s ‘Kiss Me Cake’ open day takes place from 5.30pm on Sunday, 19 September.

Recently named Glasgow Newcomer of the Year 2010 for breaking the mould of local eating and drinking, Cookie seeks to break down the barriers between food production, distribution, preparation and consumption.

Cookie is based at 72 Nithsdale Road, Pollokshields, Glasgow. For further information about Cookie log on to
