Cookie, the award-winning eatery in Glasgow’s southside, is hosting its first ever Clothes Swap Party on Monday, 30 August.
All party-goers are invited to bring at least six items of clothing or accessories, all in good condition. They will have half an hour to browse before swap starts. When the swap begins everyone chooses their first item, which is called First Picks.
Once everyone chooses their first item we move on to second, third and fourth. After the fifth item the floor is opened up for a free for all. Any remaining clothes left over will be donated to a local charity shop.
If more than one person wants an item then we will either draw names out a hat or have the two guests strut their stuff in the item of clothing and hold a vote. The girl with the most votes gets the prize.
Cookie co-owner, Dr Melanie McCallum, said, “A Clothes Swap Party is an ethical way to get new clothes. Enabling you to get rid of items you no longer need, or don’t fit, you can improve your wardrobe by exchanging items of clothing for new outfits. It’s kind to the planet and your purse!
“But remember – only bring cool items you no longer wear; not old stuff that’s had its day! No fighting or kicking!”
The Cookie Clothes Swap Party is on Monday, 30 August from 7.30pm – 10.00pm. Entrance fee is £10 with all proceeds going to The Glasgow Women’s Library.
Partygoers are invited to drop off their clothes at Cookie the day before. Cookie is based at 72 Nithsdale Road, Pollokshields, Glasgow. For further information about Cookie log on to www.cookiescotland.com
