St John’s Shopping Centre is gearing up this weekend for a picture perfect fundraising opportunity with the launch of their photographic sale to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The sale, which features donated works from some of the area’s professional photographers, as well as works by some of the nation’s best photographers including Anna Henly, a multi-award winning photographer.
The images have all been mounted and are on sale at a price of £10, with £5 from every sale going to the charity. These will be available from the Macmillan Cancer Support charity shop from 10am on Saturday morning until 4pm on Sunday, however stocks are limited so be sure to get in quick.
Anna Henly, who has won over 30 awards for her photography including a commendation in the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year with BBC Wildlife Magazine, commented “I was delighted to supply a couple of images for the photographic sale. It’s a very worthy cause. I lost my brother in law to cancer a over a year ago. It’s a devastating illness and every little we can do to help will make a difference to those people affected by cancer.”
Julie Broadfoot, a self employed photographer who is originally from Perth, and now lives in Glasgow also commented “This is a great cause and I was delighted to get the opportunity to contribute to a fundraising campaign that’s taking place in my home town. I wish them every success with the sale.”
Siobhan McConnell, centre manager, commented “We have been overwhelmed with the response from photographers and have 50 prints available for sale this weekend. This is an amazing opportunity to bag a bargain of photographic art that will look stunning on your wall. There’s something for everyone from puffins, to landscapes, from seascapes to flowers.”
The team at St John’s Shopping Centre are now half way through their month long fundraising campaign which lasts the whole of September, with a goal of raising over £10,000 for the national charity Macmillan Cancer Support. To date they have already counted over £3500 into the coffers of the charity through a variety of activities including a dedicated charity shop, raffle ticket sales and a flag day held in the shopping centre.
