Yorkhill Children's Foundation has launched its first ever text marketing campaign with the aim of encouraging more people to donate to the charity in the run up to Christmas.
The campaign kicked off on Wednesday 1 December and will run until the end of the year. Inspired by the success of such text campaigns as those run by Sport Relief and Children in Need, Yorkhill is hoping to boost support throughout the festive season with a simple mechanic of inviting people to donate £3 by texting 'YORKHILL' to '70003'.
The Foundation, set up in 2001, has already helped thousands of children and their families, through the provision of medical equipment and additional services and facilities which support the life saving work carried out by staff at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill.
David Welch, Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications at Yorkhill Children's Foundation said: “This is a particularly busy time of year and especially in the current climate one in which sick children need people's support more than ever.
“The campaign complements our overall marketing strategy and will be an opportunity for us to see how effective a text donation service is. Text donating is both quick and convenient and as a result, we hope it will encourage people to pick up their phones and donate. If it's a success, our aim is include this service as part of the marketing mix for future campaigns.”
The Foundation is hoping that in the run up to Christmas, companies will come on board and support the campaign by adding the appeal details to their websites and promoting the text donating service to their staff and customers.
