Nevis Creates Sporting Heroes Exhibition for Glasgow Commonwealth Games Bid 2014

Sports Minister launches photography exhibition on Wednesday 14 March 2007 at the Scottish Parliament, Members’ Lounge, Edinburgh at 12.30pm

Sports Minister, Patricia Ferguson was joined at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 14 March 2007, by 2002 Judo gold medallist, Graeme Randall, to launch the ‘Commonwealth Sporting Heroes’ photography exhibition sponsored by O2 and designed by Nevis Design Consultants.

The inspiring selection of photographs taken from Commonwealth Games events between 2002 and 2006, were captured by Team photographers, Steve Lindridge and Duncan McEwan, as a joint commission from the CGCS and sportscotland. Arranged in a powerful visual display, including quotes from many of Scotland’s top athletes, the exhibition will travel around 11 towns and cities in Scotland as part of O2’s ‘Back the Bid’ activity for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

As a major supporter of Glasgow’s Bid to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014, O2 and Nevis wanted to showcase how sport can inspire people in Scotland and stir up passion for the country and the Commonwealth Games. The touring exhibition forms part of O2’s drive to get people in Scotland behind the Games’ bid and to encourage more people to take up sport to increase fitness, confidence and for enjoyment.
