The future’s looking decidedly bright at Beanscene. That’s because next week (27.11.06) all outlets of the rapidly expanding coffee and music house chain will stock the recently released and critically acclaimed ‘Colours are Brighter’ CD featuring a collection of children’s songs performed by Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, The Kooks, Four Tet and many more.
Conceived and curated by Belle and Sebastian, all profits and artist royalties from ‘Colours are Brighter’ are being donated to Save the Children. As such, it fits in perfectly with what Beanscene is all about.
Gordon Richardson, Beanscene founder, said, “Not only does ‘Colours are Brighter’ feature some great music that should appeal to any discerning music fan – aged 3 to 53 – but it helps support a worthy cause too.
“From the outset our aim has been to create a place where anyone could go to spend some time with friends and family; somewhere that kids were made to feel welcome; where customers could sit back and soak up some sounds while chilling out over an espresso and a bite to eat in their own backyard. As such, Beanscene customers can expect to hear ‘Colours are Brighter’ on heavy rotation in-store in the run up to the festive period.
“After all, it’s the ideal Christmas present. In fact, I suspect that Santa will be putting a ‘Colours are Brighter’ CD in my kids’ Christmas stockings this year!”
Evoking the coffee culture promoted through the coffee houses of ‘60’s Soho, London, Greenwich Village, NYC and the Italian quarter of San Francisco, the first Beanscene opened in the southside of Glasgow, with the aim of offering a cool and accessible environment for customers to hang out and grab a bite to eat, enjoy a good coffee and listen to some good music.
Said Richardson, “At the end of the day Beanscene is a state of mind, somewhere to kick back, relax and take life in on its most simple and enjoyable level; the simple concept of coffee, music and conversation – for all the family.”
