‘The Shining’ heads HMV’s Top 50 Scariest Films
Kubrick classic overtakes ‘The Exorcist’ in HMV’s Annual Classic Horror Films Poll
Director Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’ is the greatest horror film of all time, according to HMV’s Annual Horror Film poll published today to coincide with Halloween.
The 1980 movie, featuring a signature performance by Jack Nicholson, has emerged as a landmark in modern cinema, a status confirmed by the votes it received in the survey – over 5,000 HMV customers responded to the poll, conducted online via hmv.co.uk from 29th September to 26th October.
Second place goes to director William Friedkin’s ‘The Exorcist’, starring Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn and Max von Sydow.
