Shiona Baird said: “I am looking forward to engaging with Jack McConnell on the pressing issues that concern the lives of Scots – and on Scotland’s progress in building a country on an environmentally sustainable and socially just basis. I would like to think that the First Minister will give straight answers to straight questions.
“I will also be emphasising the point that the Greens are a party concerned with building not just an environmentally sustainable country, but a socially just one too. You cannot separate the two. And of course building a green economy that creates jobs, strengthens communities and doesn’t ruin the environment or people’s lives here or abroad – is central to our vision of a sustainable Scotland.
“There are some who still perceive the Greens as concerned with the environment and nothing else. The Greens are, however, the only party in Scotland to connect issues of social justice and the economy with the environment.
“I am delighted to take my place at First Minister’s questions, as a Green and as a woman in Scottish politics.”
