Publicans Can Avoid Being Caught Out Over Layout Plans

Pubs, off-sales, restaurants, supermarkets and other outlets selling alcohol could face delays when renewing licenses if they fail to submit detailed layout plans of their premises.

The warning from leading property consultant, FG Burnett, comes as Scotland’s 5200 pubs and more than 6200 premises licensed to carry out off-sales, grapple with changes to the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.

As part of a wide ranging reform of the licensing system, each application submitted to local licensing boards must include an operating plan covering such things as hours, activities and child provision along with a detailed layout plan.
