Sell-outs Return with Winners

Performers at a sold out concert earlier this year, have returned for their only Central Belt gig with winners of two recent music awards.

The original trio – Calum Stewart (Scottish flute), Daniel Carlsson (Swedish Saxophone) and Heikki Bourgault (Breton guitar) played to a capacity audience at the Northern Streams Festival in April. This time, they are joined by winners of two Danish Folk Music Awards 2009 – fiddler, Hal Parfitt Murray and keyboard/accordionist Nikolaj Busk – to form the group called ‘One Fine Day..’

Northern Streams Festival organiser, Fiona Campbell, said: “I’m really pleased we’ve been able to arrange this extra concert so quickly as this will be the only chance people down here will get a chance to see these guys, coming fresh from three dates up north. I’ve heard them all play live in some way or another and they are all great musicians in their own right but even more amazing when combined.”

The initial concert in April came about after a chance meeting backstage at a Polish festival last year between Fiona and Calum when she found out he had been working with colleagues in Sweden and Denmark. This made a perfect fit for the Northern Streams Festival she organises which brings together music, song, dance and storytelling from Scotland and Scandinavia.

” would say they play a fusion of traditional, jazz and chilled music, but you will also get a chance to hear different combinations over the course of the evening concert – so I think it will be an experience not to miss again”, continued Campbell.
