PSYBT Appoints New Regional Manager for Edinburgh

The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) has appointed Grant Laidlaw as Regional Manager for Edinburgh.

In his new role, Grant Laidlaw will support young entrepreneurs aged between 18 – 25 years old who are looking to establish or grow their own businesses. As well as providing advice with business plans, Mr Laidlaw will guide young entrepreneurs through the start-up process, help them to secure funding and offer aftercare support to ensure their ongoing business success.

Mr Laidlaw and his team, who have offices in Haymarket Street in Edinburgh, will also be responsible for supporting the dedicated PSYBT volunteer panel members and aftercare advisers in the Edinburgh region.

Originally from Anchrum near Jedburgh, Laidlaw has long been associated with PSYBT and has over 10 years experience helping young people in business.  He was a recipient of PSYBT’s start-up funding in 1995 when he launched his own Linlithgow based trout fishery business. In 2001 he became a volunteer youth enterprise advisor in his spare time and in 2008 he joined PSYBT full-time as regional manager for the Borders.

Welcoming Grant Laidlaw to his new role, PSYBT regional chairman, Simon Holden, said: “Grant brings a wealth of experience to the role as well as enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to support young people looking to succeed in business. He will undoubtedly provide a great boost to the young people we support and our volunteers throughout the Edinburgh area.”

To date PSYBT has supported over 11,000 individuals to start almost 10,000 businesses and provided over £30.5million in funding alongside a whole package of other assistance tailored to the needs of each individual.  Last year PSYBT invested £2million in 681 young people involved in 621 businesses.
