Scottish pop singer Alex Gardner and UK boy band The Wanted have been confirmed as support for top girl group The Saturdays at this Thursday’s Cash for Kids Night at Hamilton Park – meaning fans can enjoy six races and an hour-long live music show on the night for a Budget-busting £13.
It will be a case of Frankie meets Frankie at Hamilton Park tomorrow evening with hugely popular jockey Frankie Dettori aiming to entertain on the track before The Saturdays – aka Frankie, Una, Vanessa, Mollie and Rochelle – sing live after racing at the charity meeting.
And now one of the most glamorous entertainment events of the summer has received a further boost with the confirmation that 18-year-old Gardner and emerging boy group The Wanted will give punters amazing value for their money by supporting The Saturdays in following a six-race card with an hour of live music.
Hamilton Park Chief Executive, Vivien Kyles, said: “Even though we are in the midst of a gorgeous summer we wanted to warm up fans before The Saturdays take to the stage and we are delighted to have secured Alex Gardner and The Wanted to do so. It really is a fantastic line-up.
“In a week when all the talk is about money and budgets, we feel we have put in place one of the bargains of the summer with a ticket to see six races and an hour of live music available for less than what it costs to watch a first division football match. We are anticipating a bumper crowd and, most importantly, are hoping to raise significant funds for the most worthy of causes.”
Supporting Radio Clyde Cash for Kids for the third year running, Hamilton Park is hosting the dedicated fixture in the children’s charity’s name and the racecourse hopes to surpass last year’s fundraising total.
The racecourse is also holding a series of new fundraising initiatives throughout the season in an effort to increase funds raised for Radio Clyde Cash for Kids which enable the charity to deliver initiatives for underprivileged children in local communities. Among these are:
• A silent auction being held by Cash for Kids on June 24 with all proceeds going directly to the charity.
• A charity shopping ‘mall’ being set up on that same night with a contribution from all sales going to Radio Clyde Cash for Kids.
• The introduction of an on-site Cash for Kids donation box at Hamilton Park during all 18 meetings this season.
• A £1 Cash for Kids donation option being available to all race-goers when buying tickets from Hamilton Park’s website – www.hamilton-park.co.uk
Sharon Taylor, Charity Manager for Cash for Kids, said: “We’re thrilled to again be working in partnership with Hamilton Park which has been a staunch supporter of the charity in recent years, helping to raise thousands of pounds for Cash for Kids.
“The evening of racing and entertainment that has been put together for this year’s Cash for Kids Night at Hamilton Park on June 24 really is of the highest calibre and we hope to see as many people as possible help us enjoy a memorable evening and raise as much money as we can for underprivileged children across Lanarkshire and the west of Scotland.”
