New Site for Scotland

This year’s Big Tent festival is bigger and better than ever, with an extended line-up, fully packed programme and a fantastic new location.

Now in its fifth year, Scotland’s leading green festival has moved into the breathtaking Falkland Estate grounds situated in front of the majestic House of Falkland, in the shadow of the Lomond hills.

The design and layout of the Estate’s landscape comes highly rated by Historic Scotland, for its outstanding historical, scenic and artistic significance, making this a rare opportunity to experience all that Big Tent has to offer, in a location that echoes the very real importance of environmental conservation.

This inspirational new location is sure to set minds to work amongst this year’s environmentally focused debaters and discussion groups in the Head Zone, as they find themselves surrounded by the beautiful flora and fauna of the Falkland Estate. Music lovers will equally be drawn in by the powerful presence of the ever prominent hillside, overlooking the entire site and providing a truly wonderful backdrop to showcase a feast of global and local musical talent.

Many artists have already visited the new site to draw inspiration from the land, in preparation for the upcoming craft workshops and demonstrations for the festival. Look out for wicker surprises and other various location inspired works on site.

Helen Lawrenson, Centre Director for organisers Falkland Centre for Stewardship said: “This is a very special place to host the Big Tent.  The landscape is in the care of Falkland Centre for Stewardship and we look forward to welcoming visitors to it.  We will be hosting our own tent this year and look forward to providing more information to visitors about Falkland Estate.”

With music from the likes of Rosanne Cash, King Creosote, Session A9, Aberfeldy and Mr McFall’s Chamber, alongside the topical green discussions from some of the world’s most noted thinkers like Adelaide Sosseh, Rob Hopkins and Bill McKibben, this is set to be the most entertaining and thought-provoking Big Tent so far.

With less than two weeks to go until opening night, there is only a short time left to claim your Big Green discount. Ticket discounts will only be available until 21st July, so be sure to visit www.bigtentfestival.co.uk for full details and prices.
