Volpa, a marketing agency based Perth, has found itself thrust into the national limelight for a second time in as many weeks, earning itself a much coveted nomination in The Drum Marketing Awards for its work with Fife based tourist attraction, St Andrews Aquarium.
Merely days after being nominated for a RAR Award (Recommended Agency Register) Volpa received word it had also been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s Drum Marketing awards for Re-Brand Strategy of the Year. The latest nomination will see it compete head to head with agencies representing some of the UK’s biggest household names, including Crown Paints and the Yorkshire Building Society, at what is now established as one of the UK marketing industry’s top award ceremonies. Volpa is the only Scottish agency to be shortlisted in that category.
St Andrews Aquarium has seen visitor numbers rise consistently in the past 18 months since appointing Volpa. The rebranding activity, which commenced early 2011, showed immediate signs of return on investment and has enabled the Aquarium to further develop their product offering, bringing in a whole range of new displays and extending their aquatic ranges over the winter.
John Mace, general manager of St Andrews Aquarium commented “We’ve been delighted with the difference working with Volpa has made to the business over the past 18 months, and the whole process has been expertly guided with a fresh look and a dynamic approach to marketing our business. We’re really pleased to hear that it has caught the attention of some of the biggest names in marketing and that St Andrews Aquarium is sitting alongside household names like Crown Paints and the Yorkshire Building Society for one of the UK’s biggest marketing awards.”
Tricia Fox, managing director of Volpa said “I am completely blown away, and more than a little bit excited, by this latest news. These awards are unbelievably competitive – we’re up against some of the best advertising and design agencies in the UK, not to mention companies with literally enormous marketing budgets, so to even be shortlisted is a great professional honour. Perth may have just recently acquired its City status, but news like this says we are already punching well above our weight in business terms and we’re very proud to be representing Scotland in this category.”
Volpa worked with fellow Perth businesses, T’Go Creative and WebXeL, to develop St Andrews Aquarium’s design and implement the new look branding in both a print and online environment.
Gary Paterson, owner of T’Go Creative also commented “When Tricia called to tell me the news, I just couldn’t take it in. To say it was one of the proudest moments of my professional career as a graphic designer would be an understatement.”
The team will have to wait until 9th May to find out their fate at a major ceremony at the Emirates Stadium in London, home to Arsenal FC.
