Work has just started (4th July) on the construction of a terrace of new business units at Mitchelston Industrial Estate to provide additional accommodation for new and growing businesses within Kirkcaldy.
The 5,000sq.ft of new business unit space at Myregormie Place, Kirkcaldy, will compliment the 10,000sq.ft of space already available at the adjacent Business Incubator. Completed in April 2008, it is currently nearing 70% occupancy assisting 23 businesses to establish and grow.
On completion, in December 2011, the new workspace, comprising of 2 x 1,000sq.ft units and 1 x 3,000sq.ft industrial unit (sub-divisible to 2 x 1,500sq.ft units) will compliment the existing small industrial units currently in this location. This development will be funded through prudential borrowing with a total project cost of £550,000.
Councillor Tony Martin, Strategic Chair: Environment, Enterprise & Transportation Committee, said “I’m very excited about the expansion to this state of the art business incubator in Kirkcaldy. These centres play an important role in encouraging local entrepreneurs and supporting young businesses in the area.”
He added “We know there is a great demand for these types of premises and we’ve already had enquiries from a number of companies looking to expand. Supporting these growing businesses is an important method of fuelling the local economy.”
This development will complete the variety of business property provision within Fife Council's land ownership for this area.
