Hamilton Park prepares for fourth contest for 1165-dated trophy before going back to the future with music of Kylie, Take That and Michael Jackson -
Fans of Take That, Kylie and Michael Jackson can enjoy the hits of their favourites at Hamilton Park this Friday night when tributes to those acts perform live after the running of the historic Ladbrokes Lanark Silver Bell race.
Hamilton Park stages its fourth annual race contesting what is believed to be the oldest sporting trophy in existence dating back to 1165, among a six race card on Friday evening.
Sponsored by Ladbrokes, the meeting is worth more than £40,000 in total across the card – but the fun doesn’t stop after the final race at 8.05pm.
Racegoers will then be entertained on stage by tribute acts performing hits of the three household names of world music to ensure celebrations continue into the evening.
Tickets for the meeting start from just £13 and are available from the Hamilton Park website www.hamilton-park.co.uk or by calling the racecourse office on 01698 283 806.
Hamilton Park Chief Executive Vivien Kyles said: “As the racecourse which held the UK’s first ever evening meeting we are equally proud to be able to add to the rich history of Hamilton Park by continuing to host the running of the Lanark Silver Bell race.
“The added bonus this year is the invaluable sponsorship of Ladbrokes which has allowed us to provide a level of prize-money we hope will help attract some of Britain and Ireland’s top owners and trainers and provide an evening of high quality racing.
“Then our three live music tribute acts will help everyone finish the night in style and ensure a fitting conclusion to our last evening meeting of the season before our three family fixtures in September.”
Nicky Quinn of Ladbrokes, said: “We are proud to sponsor such an historic sporting event and look forward to a great night of racing at the Ladbrokes Lanark Silver Bell Race Night.”
Frank Gunning, Chair of the Royal Burgh of Lanark Community Council said ‘The Silver Bell is an important part of Lanark’s heritage and it’s great that Hamilton Park are working to keep this special bit of history alive. We’re looking forward to the meeting and will see you all at the gates at 3.35pm.”
