An Oban-based student has received support to conduct research into humpback whales off the cost of New Hampshire, USA.
Dominique Weilermann is studying for a BSc in Marine Science at SAMS UHI in Oban and is undertaking the research over the summer for her fourth-year dissertation. The 24 year-old hopes to gather scientific data on feeding behaviours and social interactions. Her trip has been supported by the University of the Highlands and Islands student development fund.
Dominique, who is originally from Germany, is passionate about marine conservation and hopes to work in this field once she graduates. She originally came to SAMS UHI as an exchange student from a German university but enjoyed her experience so much she decided to stay.
