LUXURY hotel, the Roxburghe in Kelso, has been awarded two AA rosettes for its fine dining restaurant. The accolade comes only months after new head chef, Neville Merrin, joined the team and transformed the food offering at the hotel, making the restaurant a true foodie destination.
The award, which is given to restaurants deemed as ‘excellent’ in standards, consistency and the selection of quality ingredients, confirms Neville and his team as one of the finest in the Borders. The dining room, which was refurbished earlier this year, overlooks the spreading lawns of the estate, has an open fire and glittering chandeliers and is home to food that is sourced from the Roxburghe Estate and locally.
Speaking about the award, general manager, Duncan Evans, comments: “This is a tremendous accolade for the Roxburghe and a testament to the quality of our team and the food we produce. We have built relationships with some of the Borders’ best food producers and continue to make it a priority to wow our guests with the food, wine and service at the Roxburghe.”
Part of the Roxburghe Estate which includes the historic Floors Castle, the hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment of its public rooms, introducing country house style with a contemporary twist.
