THERE are three chances in three different locations throughout the Highlands this June to strut your stuff in style as Eden Court CREATIVE brings outdoor Salsa Street Parties to Dingwall, Thurso and Fort William.
Building on the success of last year’s events the Salsa Street Parties are coming to three new locations in 2013.
Combining the energy and excitement of both South American and Street Dance Styles, these free events invite members of the public to come and learn something new.
Everyone can try their hands at Salsa, Cha-Cha, Reggaeton, Street and Hip Hop as well as enjoying performances from local dance groups too. World-class tutors will help locals to brush up on their footwork, including the 2010 UK Salsa Professional Champion Noel Hernandez-Roque, and a live DJ will help participants get in the fiesta mood.
Eden Court CREATIVE’s Dance Artist Louise Marshall said: “It’s very important to us that everyone has a chance to join in the fun, which is why we’ve designed the parties to be accessible to both young and old, and those with experience and those who may be trying it for the first time. It’s all about joining in and celebrating.”
The Salsa Street parties are part of the Get Scotland Dancing activity in the Highlands, funded by Creative Scotland.

Notes to Editors
- Eden Court is the largest multi-arts venue in Scotland. It re-opened in November 2007 following an extensive redevelopment programme, which saw the addition of two purpose built cinemas, a brand new flexible second theatre space and two dance and education studios.
- Eden Court is the only theatre in Scotland to offer Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) courses in Drama and Dance. These are extracurricular courses, which offer pupils from across Highland the opportunity to study at Eden Court for an SQA Higher Dance, Drama or Intermediate 2 exams. Aside from Eden Court, there is only one school in the Highlands where pupils can sit SQA Higher Drama exams.
