THE latest Aberdeen PA Summer Showcase held on Thursday 16th May at the Hillton Treetops Hotel in Aberdeen was another outstanding success for the three year old company with around 350 PA’s attending along with well over 100 exhibitors.
The strictly by-invitation-only showcase has become a twice-annual event for Aberdeen PA members and is, as the name suggests, an event for exhibitors to showcase their products and services to their primary target audience – PA’s, administrators, office and facility managers, all of whom use Aberdeen PA to source suppliers, ideas and contacts.
David England, managing director of Highland Fayre, speaks very highly of the event, saying: “We have gone to many of the usual big exhibitions in the past, all of which just left us with a lot of wasted man hours.
“The Aberdeen PA showcases are different as they are a very intense three-to-four hours where we get to speak to so many existing and potential customers all within a vibrant and very friendly atmosphere.”
The types of business members exhibiting at the showcase were extremely varied from restaurants, IT solutions, hotels, travel management, airlines, universities and garden centres – the list is endless. Regardless of their size, they were all on an equal footing with one another as Aberdeen PA managing director, Rosemary McLennan, ensures all exhibition stand sizes are the same, giving the smallest of companies the same chance to catch a PA’s attention as their multi-million pound next door neighbour.
Chris Tonner, managing director of Beetroot Restaurants, believes the Aberdeen PA showcases are a perfect ground for showing what your company can offer to the PA’s and the companies they represent. “I began my company at around the same time as Rosemary and the network that Aberdeen PA has grown has been instrumental in furthering the profile of Beetroot Restaurants within the Aberdeen business community,” explained Chris.
Arguably one of the better-known names at the showcase was The Gleneagles Hotel, represented by sales team member, Tricia Geddes. Enthused by the whole experience, Tricia commented: “Many people are unaware of the amazing promotions we run throughout the year at the hotel and I find the Aberdeen PA showcase offers a way to keep the biggest event bookers in the north up to date with what is happening at Gleneagles.
“The showcase is an opportunity to catch up with regular guests and meet potential customers in a time effective manner.”
It seems the Aberdeen PA approach to networking and enabling connections really is a winning formula with an even bigger event planned for the Winter Showcase in November.
