Bridging the Gap Documentary Competition Unveils Shortlist

A Scots short documentary competition has unveiled its shortlist.

Four of the 11-strong shortlist in the annual Bridging the Gap competition will each go on to receive a budget of £8,000 – plus in-kind production, post-production and distribution support – and hands-on training through the editing period. The films are geared for distribution in cinemas and festivals.

The competition, now in its ninth year, is run by the Scottish Documentary Institute and the shortlist is as follows:

Alasdair Bayne – Wallaby

Paul Fegan – Pouters

Martin Glegg – Glasgow and the Curiosity of Ice Cream Vans on Cold Nights

Shaun Glowa – Stuffed

Daniel Gough – The Boogie Woogie Swamp

Zak Hanif – My Dad the Reluctant Scot

Chris Leslie – The End of the Line

Marie Lidén – Dead to the World

Yu-Hsueh Lin – Sweet and Sour

Wendy McMurdo – The Robot House

Chico Pereira – Seafarers

The shortlisted documentary-makers will now take part in training workshops to determine the four winners.

A series of documentary masterclasses begins on Friday with a presentation in Edinburgh from German filmmaker, Vadim Jendreyko, including a screening of his latest documentary, ‘The Woman with the 5 Elephants’.
