A Glasgow brand design and marketing agency is expanding into the realms of sponsorship sourcing and commercial rights consultancy, with two, new appointments.
Both Scott Steedman and Jamie Corr join Merchant Soul from sports backgrounds, the former in his still continuing capacity as head of sales and marketing at Southampton Football Club, the latter having been most recently with sponsorship consultancy, IMG Consulting, in London.
Steedman – who was head of sport at Material Marketing in Glasgow, until four years ago – has also worked at TEAM Marketing in Switzerland, which specialises in the marketing of sports and entertainment events. At Material, among his jobs was working with Tennent's on their sponsorship of Scottish football. He has been appointed a director at Merchant Soul, which was founded early last year by brand marketer, Stephen Halpin.
Jamie meanwhile, has been taken on as head of communications and marketing activities.
Says Halpin, in a statement issued by the company: “I am pleased to announce both the creation of the sponsorship and commercial rights division and the appointment of Scott Steedman to the board and Jamie as head of communications and marketing activities. I created Merchant Soul with the prime focus of building value for brands through great planning and great creative. The business has developed well over the last 18 months and we now see a big opportunity in bringing an integrated approach to the sponsorship market.”
