A Liberal Democrat MP has added her name to the chorus of protest against budget cuts at the Herald group of newspapers, including writing to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
Jo Swinson, MP for East Dunbartonshire, says she has also written to Tim Blott, group chief executive, about the impact of a proposed budget cut of between two and three million pounds.
Already, applications for voluntary redundancy at The Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times newspapers have been accepted.
An e-petition (here) set up the National Union of Journalists focusses on assurances made by the papers’ owners when it purchased the group four years ago.
It’s a theme repeated by Swinson who – in a letter to a member of staff says: “I have explained [to the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry]
