It was really no more than a casual remark to put things into perspective. But while it may have not been the best of weeks, last week, for Dunfermline Athletic FC manager, Stephen Kenny, it’s probably a worse one now for the author of the Dunfermline v St Johnstone match report that appeared in Monday’s Herald newspaper.
Yes, Dunfermline were tumbled out of the UEFA Cup, but what ‘tabloid expose’ is what fellow hacks are asking of the article?
But while none appears to exist, a lawyer’s letter does.
Says Kenny’s Belfast-based brief, Paul Tweed: “We have put The Herald newspaper on notice, that if there isn’t appropriate retraction of what are defamatory allegations, then we will be issuing proceedings. My client is also seeking damages.”
