The media folk at football club, Airdrie United, have taken great delight in revealing that, despite a report in the Scottish Daily Mail to the contrary, there were no sectarian offences at its stadium, during a recent Scotland B versus Republic of Ireland match.
On the club website, they reproduce the apology that appeared in the newspaper on Tuesday. Said the paper of its story that a number of fans had been ejected for alleged sectarian offences: “The information came from a normally reliable source but we have subsequently been informed that this was not the case. We are happy to set the record straight.”
And the website goes further, inviting readers to send in suggestions about the Mail reporter’s ‘agenda’, addressed to ‘The Press Box, La La Land’. Here.
