There was much celebrating – at least within Scottish Government circles – that a collection of Old Masters, including a painting by Titian, had been 'saved for the nation'.
That the celebrations went beyond the Scottish Government – which contributed £12.5 million to the overall £50 million bill – was clear from its own media release, which quoted culture minister, Linda Fabiani, plus a staggering 12 others.
