Hannan to Reveal his Student Priest Past

From the widespread coverage of the Papal visit to Scotland tomorrow, one of the more interesting journalistic contributions is likely to be from Martin Hannan, who, among other things, writes a column for the Edinburgh Evening News.

Speaking from 8.45am tomorrow, on BBC Radio Scotland, Hannan will reveal his memories from his time…. in Rome as a student priest.

He promises some characteristically forthright views.

He told allmediascotland: “There are a few journalists in Scotland who attended seminary, but I think I am the only one still working who studied in Rome and had access to the Vatican Library and who conducted tours of St Peter's Basilica for beer money. A year ago in my Evening News column I predicted this Pope would not get the same adulation as was given to John Paul II. Wish all my horse tips had been that good.”
