Business7 Folded into the Pages of the Daily Record

Four pages of business news in Friday's edition of the Daily Record may have taken some in the Scottish business community by surprise; it was the latest development in the evolution of Business7, launched three years ago as a standalone, free, weekly Scottish business newspaper.

Publishers, Trinity Mirror, has announced improvements to the Business7 website from next month – including a widening of editorial horizons to include not just Scottish business news, but UK and international content also. Expected design changes are to boast, say the publishers, “improved navigation”.

But the Business7 of old – ie a 20-page free, weekly newspaper – is now no longer, as it finds its home within the Friday edition of the Daily Record.

In summer, Business7 launched a daily business email bulletin which resulted in a triple-digit growth in the website's readership. The new version of Business7 is also available as a digital e-magazine, to subscribers.

In a statement issued by Trinity Mirror, Business7 editor-in-chief, Alasdair Northrop, is quoted, saying: “In a multimedia age people want to consume their business news and information in different ways. We are meeting those needs.

“Business7 has built a great reputation and audience amongst Scotland’s business community and these changes – via the Daily Record and the upgraded website – will continue to enhance the service we provide to our readers and the reach for our advertisers.”

The Business7 editorial team of editor, Greig Cameron, and reporter, Scott McCulloch, remains unchanged.
