La Parmigiana, Glasgow’s finest restaurant for classic Italian cuisine, is to open on Sundays by popular demand following the success of its first ever Sunday service in its 32 year history on St Valentine’s Day.
The longest established Italian restaurant in Glasgow that remains under the ownership of the family that founded it, La Parmigiana’s doors have always remained closed to the public on Sundays, but the public response to its opening last Sunday has prompted its owners to open its doors on Sundays from now on.
Proprietor Sandro Giovanazzi said, “Since St Valentine’s Day fell on a Sunday this year, we felt that, in the name of romance, the time was right to make an exception to our traditional Sunday closure.
“That decision proved to be very popular – much more so than we had anticipated – and many diners commented that they would welcome the opportunity to dine on Sundays. Consequently, we have decided to reverse our intention to revert to our traditional Sunday closure and from now on will remain open for service on Sundays.”
La Parmigiana’s new Sunday menu features starters of: Cocktail di Frutti Di Mare (seafood cocktail with Marie Rose sauce); Fagottini di Ricotta Fritta, con Pomodorini (pan fried ricotta with a tomato concasse); Insalata Di Nizza con Uovo in Camicia (salad niçoise served with a poached egg); Zuppa Di Pomodori e Funghi Di Bosco (tomato and wild mushroom soup) and Cozze alla Tarantina (mussels with garlic, chilli, tomato and white wine).
Mains include: Pollastrello Alla Brace con Pepperonata (chargrilled poussin with pepperonata); Arrista Di Maiale con Cipolline all’Aceto Balsamico (roasted pork loin with balsamic pickled onions); Tagliatelle fatte in Casa con Ragu alla Bolognese (handmade tagliatelle with traditional meat ragu); Spiedino Di Pesce alla Griglia Con Insalata Di Ruccola (selection of fish on a skewer served on a bed of rocket) and Melanzane a Barchetta (baked stuffed aubergines).
Desserts, meanwhile, include: Mousse Di Ciocolato con Peperoncino e Pistacchio (chocolate mousse with chilli and pistacchio) and Torta di Limone con Sugo di Cigliegia (glazed citrus tart with cherry soup).
La Parmigiana’s Sunday service is from 12.30pm – 7.30pm, competitively priced at £18.00 per person.
