- Singer will perform at Lanarkshire racecourse’s Forces and Services Night –
Stunning UK pop singer Alesha Dixon has been confirmed as the latest act to sign up to entertain the crowds at Hamilton Park Racecourse. Dixon, who emerged as a public favourite when her breathtaking routines on Strictly Come Dancing saw her crowned 2007 champion, is set to perform at the racecourse’s Forces and Services Night in August.
The woman of many talents – singer, songwriter, dancer, model and TV personality – will sing a selection of her chart topping singles live after racing on Friday, August 27. The gig has been arranged in association with leading concert producers Liz Hobbs Group Ltd.
Former Misteeq singer Dixon joins an awesome line-up of live music talent who will appear at Hamilton Park this summer. She will follow The Saturdays who play Cash for Kids Night on June 24 and Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon and Danyl Johnson who will perform at Family Night on July 10, while double Brit Award winners JLS take to the stage in the racecourse’s first ever standalone gig on July 23.
Forces and Services Night, one of Hamilton Park’s Super Seven fixtures, was set up to allow the community to pay tribute to local military and emergency services personnel with Dixon the feather in the cap of what promises to be a memorable night which will also feature a display from the Golden Lions Parachute team.
Vivien Kyles, Chief Executive of Hamilton Park Racecourse, said “We’ve been working hard to secure Alesha Dixon for some time now and being able to confirm her appearance at Forces and Services Night completes an incredible Hamilton Park line-up this summer. We’re really delighted to have her on board.
“It shows just how far Hamilton Park has come in a short space of time to be able to bring international music and entertainment stars to the heart of Lanarkshire yet still be able to offer the live music, racing and more from as little as £13.
“On a more serious note it will provide a more than fitting finale to a night which has been set up especially to allow us all to pay tribute to the dedication and bravery shown by so many from the various forces and services locally and across the country.”
Alesha Dixon first found fame in the all-female R&B trio Mis-Teeq, before pursuing her music career as a solo artist in 2005, releasing her debut solo album, Fired Up in 2006. In 2008 she released the follow-up, The Alesha Show, which received platinum certification from BPI in the UK. She has recently found further fame as a judge of Strictly Come Dancing.
Taking place on Friday 27 August, Hamilton Park’s Forces and Services Night, which includes six races prior to the concert, is one of the track’s Super Seven fixtures for 2010.
