Ashoka at The Mill, the popular family restaurant in Darnley, has opened an extensive hidden beer terrace overlooking the fast flowing Brock Burn, adding an al fresco dining dimension to its many attractions.
The terrace gives up to 40 diners an opportunity to soak up the summer sun or seek the shade beneath an umbrella on a new terrace to the rear of the recently refreshed Mill.
And already the restaurant has been inundated with new customers flocking to bask in the pleasure of dining in the fresh air.
The Mill’s new manager, Asha Bains Majhu, said, “Whilst we’re conveniently located at the busy junction on Corselet Road, the situation of our hidden beer garden, to the rear of the building overlooking the burn and over to the countryside, lends an appealing air of rural tranquillity to our dining experience that is proving itself to be a very popular attraction.”
The hidden beer terrace is the latest in a series of changes Ms Bains Majhu has introduced to The Mill over recent weeks, following a comprehensive makeover and fresh menu.
She said, “I’m delighted that the changes we’ve been introducing to The Mill have won the approval of existing customers and are tempting new customers to sample the delights on offer in our fresh and friendly environment.”
The Mill is also a hot favourite for family dining – the adjacent Playzone is a magnet for kids and affords parents a rare chance for peace to enjoy their meal – whilst its mezzanine gallery area offers a more intimate setting for a romantic dinner for two served with linen napkins by twinkling candlelight.
The Mill offers a variety of eating options, from the renowned Ashoka buffet to home-style and desi dishes and from a la carte to takeaways and deliveries. Meanwhile the popular Mill Room – available for a variety of business and social functions, from weddings, birthday parties, karaoke and Hen Nights to corporate conferences and board meetings – has not missed out on the makeover. The appealing space has been fully refurbished to exceed the expectations and requirements of event organisers.
