FORMER BBC television journalist, Andrew Cassell, has been recruited by reputation promotion specialists Stop Press! Media as part of their training team.
The one-time BBC Washington and Scotland Correspondent, whose career with the corporation spanned more than 20 years and included regular stints as a contributor to Radio 4 and all the main UK TV news bulletins, will provide a unique insight into how to work with the broadcast media.
Stop Press! Media brings together experienced journalists, PR professionals and social networking experts to provide a unique insight into how businesses can work with the press and media to raise their profile and increase sales.
“If the best detectives think like criminals and the best gamekeepers think like poachers it makes perfect sense that experienced journalists should know the most about how to work with the media,” said Fiona Mackay, director of Stop Press! Media.
“Andrew Cassell is one of the country’s most experienced radio and televison reporters. It is fantastic that he is willing to share his skills and knowledge with businesses and organisations looking to gain exposure in an already highly competitive media world.”
Around 95 per cent of all press releases sent to news organisations go in the bin without being read but, with a little practice and advice, the chances of a company getting favourable coverage can be greatly enhanced.
Stop Press! Media provides a series of training courses ranging from elementary story recognition and press release writing to providing print and broadcast interview techniques and crisis management.
“I am very pleased to be working with Stop Press! Media alongside a number of other highly experienced colleagues,” said Andrew Cassell, director of CDMedia, an independent broadcast TV, web and corporate video company.
“Journalists working for television, radio, newspapers and the internet all have different skills. It is exciting and refreshing to be part of a time which brings all those experiences under one umbrella.”
