Cookie, the award-winning eatery in Glasgow’s southside, has joined the Glasgow Restaurateurs’ Association, the organisation comprising over 60 of the best culinary venues in the city, and is taking its unique Chef Wars concept to Gourmet Glasgow 2010 on Sunday 29th August at 6.30pm.
Cookie co-owner, Domenico Del Priore, said, “Only the best restaurants in the city are invited to join the Glasgow Restaurateurs’ Association so we are delighted with this quality accreditation and recognition that membership gives us.
“We are looking forward to an active involvement in the Association and to our participation in Gourmet Glasgow 2010, the perfect opportunity to treat yourself, family and friends and have a superb value meal in some of Glasgow’s finest restaurants.”
With a range of events to choose from, Gourmet Glasgow, the annual culinary festival featuring special events and dining offers, has something for all tastes and budgets with events running at different restaurants throughout the month.
Cookie’s popular Chef Wars pits three volunteer cooks – professionals versus professionals and amateurs versus amateurs – against each other by preparing three mains and three puddings to be judged on the night by Cookie customers.
Del Priore, said, “Chef Wars at Gourmet Glasgow is all set to be a great night of food, wine and fun, hosted by a special guest MC. For once our own chefs get to take the back seat and overview new budding chefs at work.
“Our competitors will be given expert advice from our team of professionals at hand, covering everything from planning to sourcing, cooking and presentation. All dishes will be fresh, seasonal and European, with vegetarian options always on offer – and various Cookie prizes are at stake!”
Any budding chefs up for the challenge should contact Cookie on 0141 423 1411 to volunteer. Customers can book a ring-side seat at the event by booking now on the same number. Tickets cost £20, covering the price of the meal and a glass of wine.
The Glasgow Restaurateurs’ Association has grown over the last few years from a handful of establishments to more than 60 members to date. The Association has uniquely allowed a group of widely diverse professionals to exchange ideas with the common aim to promote the excellence of the Glasgow restaurant scene.
Recently named Glasgow Newcomer of the Year 2010 for breaking the mould of local eating and drinking in this year’s List Eating and Drinking Guide, the popular eatery, deli and shop will now take part in next month’s Gourmet Glasgow 2010, Cookie seeks to break down the barriers between food production, distribution, preparation and consumption.
With a focus on seasonal food and local produce made available at an accessible price, Cookie is a club, a bar, an off license and a food and wine importer, it is also a gallery promoting design and art.
