The Oiltech Investment Network (Oiltech) will host a workshop for entrepreneurs and small companies in the upstream oil and gas sector seeking to raise funding from private equity investors.
The workshop will provide unique access to these investors at the Thistle Airport Hotel in Aberdeen on Wednesday, October 6.
Entrepreneurs, inventors and SMEs looking to expand their business can apply for a place at the seminar.
Trevor Burgess of private equity firm, Lime Rock Partners, speaking on behalf of Oiltech, said: “We are inviting entrepreneurs and pioneering companies to submit a brief application form to compete for places at the event. Upstream oil and gas technology funders will be available to provide advice, supported by oil company representatives, intellectual property attorneys and corporate finance advisors.
“Those selected will have a one-to-one meeting with one of the Oiltech members. This is an opportunity for funders in the Oiltech network to learn about new business ideas, and will improve the chance that a good plan will receive funding. It’s all about driving more innovation within the sector.”
Guest speakers from Chevron will explain their short to mid-term technology needs, and Shoaibi Group will profile opportunities in the Middle East. Alternative routes to funding will also be highlighted with input from companies such as Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) and Innovation Norway.
Closing date for applications is August 20 and further details and application forms to participate in the workshop can be found at http://www.oiltechinvest.com/events.asp
Oiltech was launched last month by a group of leading private equity investors, including Altira Group, Chevron Technology Ventures, Energy Ventures, Epi–V, Lime Rock Partners, SEP, Shoaibi Group and Viking Venture. The member companies have cumulatively invested more than $950 million (£630M) in more than 50 oil and gas technology companies over the last five years. The network provides a platform to connect entrepreneurs in the upstream sector to prospective investors.
The workshop will be managed by OTM Consulting. OTM is an independent firm of technology management consultants specialising in the identification, commercialisation and deployment of new technologies in the oil and gas and alternative energy sectors (www.otmnet.com).
